quick and easy biscuits and gravy

This is one of my favorite meals to order when we go out to breakfast but for some reason my lazy butt had never attempted to make it at home because I thought it had to be time consuming and overly complicated. Big oops on that assumption! This recipe was delicious and only took me about 15 minutes to make, it was ridiculously easy. Of course I did cheat by using pre-made biscuits but have you ever made homemade biscuits? Mine always turn out like hockey pucks, so Pillsbury is a-okay in my book (I won’t tell if you don’t). This would also be a great-go to for house guests as it’s fast and makes 8 servings. Will be making this again and again!

Ingredients
Package of Grands Homestyle Buttermilk biscuits (8)
10 oz browned breakfast sausage
1/4 cup flour
2 1/2 cups 2% milk
salt & pepper to taste
pinch of red pepper flakes if you want a kick

First, bake the biscuits according to package. Then cook and brown the sausage on medium-high heat, breaking apart into crumbles.

Add the flour (do not drain the sausage – go big or GO HOME!) and stir constantly for about 1 minute.

Gradually add the milk, keep stirring, and continue to cook on medium-high heat until it comes to a boil. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Then turn down to a simmer and cook and additional couple of minutes, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.

Split the warm biscuits in half, dollop with a healthy dose of the delicious sausage gravy and devour!

  1. Annie, I order this when I go out also and make it like you do. Prefer HOT sausage. Must be related.
