Appetizers & Dips

cheddar & green onion cheese ball

Well I guess I took a little unplanned hiatus for the last couple o’ weeks! Work and life has been crazy-busy, as it always is this time of year, so we’ve been eating a lot of take-out and I’ve just been too exhausted to cook – let alone try to take decent photographs and write. Even though I adore my time blogging, sometimes you just need a breather to feel refreshed and ready to get back at it.

So, I’m back baby! Back with one of my favorites for the holidays, my go-to cheesey ball! While the ingredients in this here cheese-ball are super simple, it’s really flavorful thanks to the Worcestershire sauce – and this is a great base for adding whatever extra yummy ingredients you want. Green olives, pimentos, blue cheese, garlic, jalapenos, fresh herbs – whatevs! You really can’t go wrong with this easy-peasy recipe.

CheeseBall

Ingredients
1 8 oz package cream cheese
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
3 sliced green onions
2 tbs worcestershire sauce
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Let the cream cheese soften first. Then combine all of the ingredients except for the chopped walnuts. Mix really well, then form into a ball. Roll the ball through the walnuts so the entire surface is covered. Voila! My fave cheese ball! I love to serve with the dill, sea salt and olive oil triscuits, but obviously whatever floats your boat cracker-wise will work just fine. Happy Holiday partyin’!

  1. Yum! I’ve never made a cheese ball before and tried my first one as an adult – when I met my mother-in-law who always makes sure there’s one in the fridge when we come to stay. Thanks for sharing your recipe. Sounds very simple to make.

This post would make a great submission to Our Growing Edge, which is a link up party for new food adventures. This month’s theme is “Nostalgia”. More info here: http://bunnyeatsdesign.com/our-growing-edge/
